Applied to lots of jobs and no interviews? Here is why

Short answerUsually it's one of three things: the jobs don't match your experience closely enough, your CV doesn't use the words in the advert so it scores low in screening, or you're applying late. Fix the match first, then tailor your CV to each advert, then apply within the first few days.

1. The jobs don't fit closely enough

If you meet two of six essential requirements, you'll almost always lose to someone who meets five. Read the must haves before applying and skip the long shots.

2. Your CV doesn't speak the advert's language

Screening software and busy recruiters both look for the advert's own words. If the job asks for "stakeholder management" and your CV says "worked with teams", you may not be seen. Use the advert's terms where they're true for you, and put your most relevant experience first.

3. You're applying late

Many jobs get most of their applications in the first few days, and some close early. Applying in the first 48 hours makes a real difference.

4. The basics

Where Job-AI fits

Job-AI tackles all three: it skips jobs you don't fit, tailors your CV to each advert from your real experience, and keeps checking for new jobs through the day so you apply early. See your CV tailored to a live job, free.

How many applications does it take to get an interview?

It varies a lot by field. If you're getting none after 30 or more, the match and the CV are usually the problem, not the number.

Should I tailor my CV for every job?

Yes, where you can. A CV that uses the words from the advert scores and reads better than a generic one.
