Universal Credit work search: how many jobs do you need to apply for?

Short answerThere's no fixed number of applications for everyone. What you must do is set in your Claimant Commitment, agreed with your work coach. For many people in the all work related requirements group, that means up to 35 hours a week of work search, with the jobs you applied for recorded in your Universal Credit journal.

What counts as work search

Applying for jobs, updating your CV, registering with agencies, searching job sites and preparing for interviews can all count. Your work coach looks at what you did and whether it matches your commitment, so the record matters as much as the activity.

Applying for more jobs without burning out

Quality still matters: a handful of applications that fit you gets more interviews than dozens that don't. Spend your hours on jobs you could realistically get, and keep the record as you go so it's not a chore at the end of the week.

Where Job-AI fits

Job-AI applies to jobs that fit your CV and keeps a running log of every application it sends, each with the real date, job title and employer, ready to copy into your Universal Credit journal. It never backdates anything.

Is there a minimum number of job applications for Universal Credit?

Not a single national number. Your Claimant Commitment sets what you agreed with your work coach, often measured in hours of work search per week.

Can I use an app to help with Universal Credit work search?

Yes, as long as the applications are real and your journal records what actually happened, with the real dates.
